NaXum Reviews: Applying The Super Mario Effect To Referral Marketing
Posted by naxumadmin / December 20, 2022
Have you applied the Super Mario Effect to your referral marketing company?
You may be asking yourself, “What is the super Mario effect?” and if you are, checkout Nasa-engineer-turned-viral-youtube-sensation Mark Rober’s TEDx talk:
Mark shares that when we make learning a game, with no cost of failure, we maximize our opportunities to learn new ideas.
When I listened to Mark’s Ted Talk, I saw opportunities for the corporate teams that run referral marketing companies to not only bring gamification to the way their members learn but to apply the lessons to how they grow their referral marketing companies as a whole.
In referral marketing, gamification can come from simple ideas like building a platform around winning your daily habits.
By creating a game out of the 3-4 activities your referral marketers must do every day to build a business, we can create a fun community-based competition of each marketers ‘winning’ their daily habits and focused on being consistent in doing the daily work with the reward of a streak.
Companies can expand on gamification by creating predictive platforms that feel like a top leader sitting next to the newest person suggesting what they ‘do next’.
In addition to gamification for the activities of your actual promoters, there are lessons to be learned for the corporate teams providing the content and selling systems to the marketers.
Many referral marketing, direct selling, and party plan companies are simply not growing virally right now. The cycle for many companies can be to release new sharable content annually or even each quarter.
The truth is that many referral marketing companies are not testing enough messaging and content out to fail fast enough to find out what it’s going to take to grow their brand virally.

Your message and brand may be evergreen, you’re the ‘healthy essential oils’ company or the ‘forex trading company with the really awesome instructors’, but the content members are actually sharing to get customers to come to hear your message must change often.
How many pieces of content are you testing right now?
What types of pieces of content are your members willing to share?
Out of what your members are willing to share, what content is engaging new people to leave social media and come to your website?
If you know more growth is out there for your company, it’s time to start testing more shareable content faster and tracking the results.
